Schedule Your First Dental Checkup Today!

Regular dental checkups help maintain a healthy smile and prevent costly dental issues. Don't wait! Experience top-quality dental care at Green Apple Dental in Surrey today.

In addition to a thorough consultation, your new Surrey dentist will conduct an exam to document your current dental health and check for any areas of concern. A cleaning is usually scheduled as your second visit, unless you and the dentist decide that there is other dental treatment that should be done first. At your cleaning our dental hygienist will remove tartar buildup, give you a fluoride treatment, and floss and polish your teeth. Your hygienist can also provide tips for proper brushing and flossing at home.

What will I have done at my first appointment?

At your first visit you will meet Dr. Cancar or Dr. Kooner and they will first ask you about your concerns and priorities. The dentist will review your medical history. If you are taking medications, please bring a list of the medications and dosages you are currently taking. After we get to know a little about you we will start with a head and neck exam, and then we'll look inside your mouth. We'll look for any suspicious bumps or lumps, and we will chart any existing dental work. If you have recent dental x-rays let us know when you book your first visit, and we will request them from your previous dentist. The dentist will determine which additional, if any, radiographs are needed. After viewing the radiographs, a treatment plan will be made with your concerns and priorities in mind.

The dental exam is critical to your ongoing oral health.

What is your dentist looking for during a dental exam?

Your dentist may explain what's happening during the exam and give you a summary of the findings. If not, be sure to ask. As patient, you are a full partner in your oral health care.

Can I have a cleaning done at my first appointment?

How often should I get x-rays done?

X-rays are prescribed on a case-by-case basis. Dr. Kooner and Dr. Cancar prefer to review a patient's dental history, and examine their mouth before deciding when and which x-rays are needed. Usually x-rays are prescribed once a year.

Do you claim insurance directly or do I have to pay upfront?

Do you do treatment under general anesthetic?

We do not offer treatment under general anesthetic; however we do offer conscious oral sedation to help you feel more relaxed during your dental treatment.

I've been going to the dentist on a regular basis and I don't think I need a one hour exam. Can I just book for a cleaning?

Although Dr. Cancar and Dr. Kooner prefer to have a full hour for the initial examination, they understand that this may not work for everyone. If you would like your cleaning on the first visit, and have been seeing a dentist on a regular basis, we can book you for a 30 minute limited exam. Please let our receptionist know, in advance, so that we can request your x-rays from any dental office you have recently visited.

I recently had x-rays taken at another office. Can you request them to be sent to your office?

Yes we can. Please let our receptionist know the name of any dental offices you have recently visited and we will contact them. We may need written authorization to transfer the x-rays to our office.
